Custom Youtube Url

Just wondering about how this works. It says that one requirement is 500 subs, but I got an email saying that I could have /c/Lionsgrip.

Sounds good, but I was wondering if I could get one with just /Lionsgrip and no /c/. Is that normal to have?

I have a custom URL its just YT/mykb93 but I don't have 500 subs either. I have also been on YT for a long time and I think I remember being invited to have the custom URL as a beta or something.

Yeah I got a email in google + saying that I can get the custom URL. I was going to get it, but they said I can't change it once I do. I figured I would wait to get 500 subs (if I ever do) and get /Lionsgrip instead of taking /c/Lionsgrip.

If you type in my URL YT/mykb93 it autoforwards to YT/user/mykb93 so I am not sure if you can use the YT/LionsGripp and it forward the same as mine does but I would send them an email and ask them. That is if they ever get back to you.

If you were on youtube before the changes happened then you automatically have the custom URL... like mine is /FazzaRider... not /YDK74873JDHBD7387BHSDG haha

I had a strange email that said I could change my URL as well, but I think because my account was created in 2009 it allowed me to do it before 500 subs.

Same story, they sent an email or something then you got it. Can't really recall it though. I think you had an option to change.

Try typing in:

www.youtube.com/<yourusername>

It will redirect to:

www.youtube.com/user/<yourusername>

Alternatively you can try out redirect URL sites like kickme.to

I did one www.bikers.rules.it it just redirects to my stupidly simple website.

Channel URL and user URL are different things, although ultimately it's the same thing for wanting a nice address to put on your sticker. Like mine

My suggestion would be to search channel and user URLs, see what comes up for each.

I checked and nothing under youtube.com/Lionsgrip came up. I'll just wait till I hit 500 and try and get that. Thanks for the help everyone.

You don't need 500 subs you can qualify in a number of ways.

Best way I have found is buy a domain and link it to your GooglePlus page. I have half a dozen of them and with this profile I got my custom link a week after I created it.

FYI - the custom URL will appear like http://youtube.com/c/Lionsgrip

Google Plus offered me: google.com/+RealistriderTv and my Youtube automatically came through as https://www.youtube.com/c/RealistriderTv

I know it's not a big difference. I just didn't want to change my URL to http://youtube.com/c/Lionsgrip if I could wait to get the other one.

I believe if you get http://youtube.com/c/Lionsgrip, http://youtube.com/Lionsgrip will redirect there anyway.

Hmmm I wonder if that's why youtube has been sending me custom channel notifications even though I've had one for almost a year with. I wonder if the /c/ creates another designation. I could be handy for multiple channels if you did one for another hobby but wanted to keep the same user name.

Can't say I've had custom channel notifications. Not been on quite a year yet (I think), but I do have /user/lurchonabike which works as /lurchonabike anyway.
