Few years ago I rode around in an old abandoned Peter the Great military base, near my hometown. It was with my previous bike - Suzuki Intruder 800cc - which is very light. I was looking for a good secluded place to watch the lunar eclipse. That would be away from buildings and lit streets. Riding on unfamiliar dirt roads, did not seem too difficult at first. Then the hills came. Then puddles. Then I started thinking, if I should turn around, and that enduro bikes are really not that bad of an idea. Then I saw someone, further ahead, through the bushes. I thought, well, roads must be getting better there, and continued. When I reached to the people I saw, the road had turned in to a mud, and it was not possible to go any further with my bike. And the two guys there were on sportbikes. So I pulled over, greeted them, and after a while it turned out that they were foreigners, just wondering around. What are the odds. Anyway we turned back and checked another route, to find a good spot, for the lunar observation. And these guys were not really feeling like going slow. Trying to keep up with sportbikes, on a small cruiser, is a task on its own anyway. And now, do it on uneven surfaces and unfamiliar roads. But it was an experience I would not have received, without this happy coincidence.
Oh yeah, and it was really cloudy that night. So much of seeing the lunar eclipse
