Contacts and subs :S

Hi guys... Been of for a while as I have been bikeless.. That all changes next Sunday as I will have new wheels muwahahaha!!

I have noticed though that I have No new subs recently but lots of people adding me as a contact on YouTube.... I remember reading something (maybe on here) about YouTube combining subs and contacts :S

Anyone able to tell me the difference between the two things and what benefit contacts are? Or is it only towards messaging?

Had no idea you could still add some one as a contact. Haven't had a request for that in a long long time.

I get about 3-4 a day and ignore them all. Seem to be all spam bot generated.

I've had a few and a couple that are genuine. Not sure I understand what the point in them is about though so I haven't responded to any.
