Serious Close Call, Don't Assume Corners Are Always Clear

It happens, their are always multiple hazards eh! do you have any advance riding courses in the US like the UK? we are taught to take the bends for best view so would have been closer to the centre for an earlier view of the hazard.... I would never ride a bike without ABS anymore now knowing how good they are in the wet if you get a brown trouser moment like that, we have all had them .

I was expecting the green truck to pull out. Nonetheless ride safe, wet roads suck.
Thanks

We do have advance rider courses, but like everything else, they can be pricey. ABS would have been nice for sure. Good tip on where to be in the lane, I would have had a much greater view of what was in front of me. Defiantly a close call that would have been avoidable.

Promoted due to its one of those rare videos where 'blame' can't really be given, it's just one of those things that were thankfully avoided

Good video

Good video showcasing why it's on the Rider to be safe. I just made a rant video about how it's the riders responsibility to look out for hazards and this is another great example of just how important it is!

Glad you made it out without issue

Thanks, Im taking the blame on this one. I didn't slow down when I saw the garbage truck blocking my view and was going a little faster than I should(not fast enough to get a ticket, but faster than the conditions should have allowed). I think you are right this wasn't avoidable, but could have defiantly have been made safer with some extra precautions.

Yup! no one to blame but yourself when it comes to safety.
They say never go faster han you can stop
They say a lot of things... :D I was defiantly thinking that when I saw the garbage truck, and just hoping there wouldn't be a vehicle there.
did you leave skid marks in your underwear as well as the road
Didn't lock wheels up thankfully, but I can't seem to remember if my undies always had a brown streak in them
I think I would have cleaned that guy up or dropped it if it was me. Well saved.
Thanks, definitely good braking was needed here.

Always ride at a speed where you can stop in the distance you can see to be clear on your side of the road.

Straight out if the riding manual :)

Didn't look like you did too bad with the braking. Should have seen mine the other day when I got pulled out on! :)
