Chin Mount On A Garmin Virb X

Hello guys. This is my first time in this forum and I write from the Azores Islands - Portugal.

I wish to iniciate on Motovloging so I bough a Garmin Virb X, but i'm having a lot of dificulties in putting on my helmet in a chin position. My helmet is an AGV K3-SV and the chin part is just to norrow in order to place the curved mount that came with the camera.

So, I would like to ask for your help guys, if anyone has this kind of situation with the Garmin. I have read some threads, including some videos to make chin mounts but only on go pros.

Thank you very much guys for all the help and attention.

Kind regards

Isn't the Virb too long to go on the chin? I would have thought top or side of helmet is your only choice.

I use the Garmin Virb XE and chin mount it. I just did a review on the Proshot mount that allows you to chin mount easily on a dirt bike helmet, variant etc

I know I'm a little late to the party here, but I have the sneaky feeling that SOMEONE is going to google "chin location for gopro on agv k3" one day and see this post and just go "urrggghhhhhhh no reply?!"

I have a GoPro chin-mounted on my AGV K3. Your Garmin uses a GoPro mount iirc.

MY way of doing it (which took about 5 minutes and was on the cheap) was to use two GoPro mounts;
  1. Position one mount directly underneath the "vents". The sides will not make contact with the helmet, just the center.
  2. Remove the adhesive from the second mount. Use scissors to cut the freshly pried 3M adhesive pad in half, and slowly chop each half into smaller sizes, filling the gap between the first mount and the helmet as you go.
By using the adhesive pad to literally pad the gap between the mount and the helmet, the gopro/garmin should stick (no pun intended) quick nicely against the helmet. I haven't had any issues with vibrations etc.

Hope that helps someone one day.

Sugru.

Buy some sugru and mount it where you want it.

Great revelation Mr. Sailor Moto. I had no idea that product existed. As soon as I red your post, went to youtube and look for it. And guess what? That first video that poped was with the same model of my helmet - the AGV K3 SV.

So extra thanks for that and I'm seriously think of buying Sugru.

I'm sorry for reviving an old thread, but I have a quick question. I got some Sugru packs to chin mount my Virb Ultra. Since I use the curve mount on my action sports helmet (if that is even a word), can I used the flat mount with Sugru, as I don't have any other used for it. I don't feel like buying 6 mounts pack just for that, unless I really have to that is.

After the replies on this thread, I actually made a chin mount with Sugru in 1 week ago.

WingManGT, you can check the video of how I did it. And did it with a flat mount.

Shure it will help you.

Thank you very much for all your replies guys. You helped me a lot.

So its gonna take 3 packs ;). Good to know. Please keep me posted how it holds up. I was thinking of securing the camera with a string to my chin strap as well, just so it wont fall if bad things happen.
