cam issue

hiya guys so i finally got myself a helmet camera today, a drift hd 1080 but already have a problem with it, while recording no matter how loud the situation all i can hear is humming and buzzing etc on play back any idea how to fix this or is it a fault with the cam?

should note its with the external mic as the mic i got doesnt fit lol, side question, anyone one know the jack size ill need for a mic?

the internal mic on the camera is not very good and all you will hear is wind noise for the most part. It is a standard 3.5mm Jack I believe and you can buy the drift mic for something like $5.00 or less and it works very well. If you want to know how well check out my channel it's what I use.

i made a video of what it does the internal mic does suck but its not wind noise even tho i hear that most the time while recording the ride the video has 3 parts hight pitch tone low pitch hum and low static

Try another memory card, if still the same , return the Cam .

from what i understand it mite be electrical interference from somewhere that i haven't figured out yet. i know the low pitch hum was when i went over a bridge with train tracks below it went over it twice and it happened at the same time but the high pitch i have no idea, could be my pc, my sterio, tuner, wifi etc im not sure

I think I'd send Drift customer support that link and see what they say. The low pitch part was certainly related to whatever is under that bridge, but that high pitch thing is strange. You shouldn't be getting any interference from nearby cars. They put out signals, but not that strong, and there's no traffic in your house...

i have sent them the link i am still waiting for a reply maybe monday as i sent it friday, i also live next to a main road and just past that is a bit of green hills then a motorway and not far are some over head power lines but don't see how that will cause the high pitch, the noise is gone when i have a external mic put in tho. in my room there is 2 decent size speakers maybe the magnets from them? the amp, tuner, pc? not sure the high pitch tone has me baffled

That answers your question. The problem is with the built in mic, which is mostly useless anyway. I think I'd just ignore it and carry on with life.
