Bugs!

What do you guys do about the inevitable bugs or other stuff that might end up on your camera lens? I was out the other day and filmed some footage only to come home and see a big splotch right in the center of my footage. I was more than dissapointed.

Next ride I took a micro fiber rag and my shield cleaner with me, almost becoming paranoid about bugs on the lens. Do you guys check often, or just roll with it?

I just had this issue on my last vlog. Fortunately it was mostly on the TFT in the video and wasn’t too bad. I think I might just take a rag with me in the future but not sure I would stop just to check that. I might check if already stopped or if I notice that it is particularly buggy out.

Bug splats, rain drops it's a bit of a gamble and luck the footage isn't unusable. If you have made reference to the rain or the amount of bugs then it can add to the video because you've said "there are so many bugs splattered on my visor" and if the viewers have them on the camera lens too, that kinda makes them part of what's going on! Just not to the point where its centre screen or covered the complete lens.

If there are bugs on your visor or rain drops, the. Remember there will be on the lens too.

I carry both a micro fiber cloth and wet wipes for those more stubborn bugs.

I have a fairing and windscreen so the bugs are not so much an issue as greasy sunscreen from my hands. Just checking the lens a lot and shooting a lot of footage is about all we can do.
