Hey does anybody know of a way to wirelessly record audio with my Gopro without using the Sena? It's too expensive and there's got to be some option. I wanna do more videos with the Gopro down on my bike and I really don't want to keep running my Mic wire all the way down from my helmet. Input!!

Yeah Nerb I guess I could try that. But then it's a pain trying to synk the audio with the film just perfectly. But it could be done.

its actually very easy.

either clap in your hands or use the horn. and you can see the spike in the audio line in the editor

might depend on the editor but i have used up to 3 devices (voice recorder and 2 cams) and syncing is no problem at all.
just make sure all cams are recording audio,(just delete after sync if you don t want it in the vid)

well maybe i didn t express myself properly

lets say you have 2 cameras. turn them both on, clap in you hands or use the horn, sync later easily based on the spike in the audio line in the editor.

on some cams you can choose NOT to record audio. if 1 of them isn t recording audio. its a pain in the arse to sync. xD

about the deleting part.
i usually only use the audio from the helmet. the back camera for example will have crazy wind noise(or the exhaust sounds like its been hidden in a can, due to the go pro water proof housing) so i don t use it in the vid

I've thought about this, record video only then overlay the audio track...what kind of audio recorders would be good for this?

i use a cheap as voice recorder that i stick in the jacket pocket, use an extension cord and use the same mic in the helmet.
I only use this solution when i don t have my cam on the helmet. e.g. when I use the 3PV mount.

can provide you with a link if you are interested

i've also heard from some friends that they use a voice recorder in their backpack, to record better engine sounds of the bike xD

will try that soonish

i meant the u tube vid xD sry

wrote that and then decided to just throw in the link

the mic is from audio technica (or so) and the voice recorder is some "normal" random thing, i d have to look what the brand is but it doesn t matter

Whatever Bluetooth gizmo you use and connect to the camera will have a measurable delay. That will be even more painful to get synced in edit than using an external audio recorder and the camera.

You can always go-pro and have a cinema clapper in your pocket, if clapping with your hands is not your thing and you think you look silly doing that. Do like the pros and clack the board instead. That's exactly what they're used for, to sync the hundreds of audio and video sources you have when professionally shooting.

Using the horn is tricky if any camera is not capturing audio, you need an audiovisual cue and a clapper is the perfect choice.
