Bikes that require the least amount of maintenance

Yo guys so I'm looking into a possible replacement bike already. I gotta pay off this loan I took out for the ninja 300 I got. My wife and I had every intention on passing this bike to her once I was ready to move up. Anyway though enough of that. I want to know which bikes are usually the cheapest to maintain and user friendly.

ANY bike is Cheap to maintain...Kinda.

It just depends ifu goto an 'Up-Himself' mechanic, that charges like a wounded bull, or goto a decently priced guy (HARD to find!!).
Or YOU can do 'most' of the basic maintenance yourself.

Trust me its not that hard, once you get a workshop manual (HIGLY recommend).
The manuals like 'Haynes' or 'Gregory's' are VERY explanitory and have great Pics to-boot.

I am refering to 'Basic' maintenance, things like Brakes, Servicing, Tuning (Spec. tools needed), General Safety checks, Parts replacement, etc.
Ok, so ive been playing with motors since i was 12, but YT nowadays has just about EVERYTHING you need to see it done, before you do it.
Recently, i had to re-build a set of Carbs for a Suzi 250 Across, searched on YT, NOTHING!!

So while i did the re-build, i filmed it. So now their is one on YT for others to see for research/practice.

So, depending what Pocket-Rocket your gunna get, i reckon do some research first on service intervals, consumable parts costs, etc. And maybe even do a 'Light Engine' course at your local Tafe/Trade school.
(light engine apprenticeship, is pretty much a M/bike mechanic qualification here in Aus., and on par with a Lawnmower mech.)

Good-luck, i'd love to know your findings and/or what your getting.
Cheers

Hey thanks I appreciate it. I was actually thinking of going to motorcycle mechanic school for fun just to learn how to take care of my bike. I'll do some more research!

if u find a forum for what ever bike u get they have should have the info to help you with any issues that would come up. they would also know little tricks and tips to make working on ur bike easier. with any bike its going to have pros and cons with maintenance just have to look around and see what works for u

how much bigger bike are you looking at? ... theres always the 'simple' vs 'tricksy' bikes in every size/class ... might make it a bit easier for folks to help guide you if there is a displacement 'range' you are aiming for! .... and what type/style of bike you are after... cruiser/sport/supersport/adventure/road-trail/scooter? ... ;):)

Looking for a 650 - 750(Sport) - 950 - 11000(Cruiser).

I haven't ridden a bigger cruiser yet, but my buddy has talked about letting me ride his. Also a lot of dealerships will let you test ride.
