Bikers In The Media!

The Friends of Ollie
So I have been watching 'Sons of anarchy' and before that Long Way Round/Down & Race to dakar. I never got into American Choppers. I like it when the TT is on but don't get entertained by the X-Fighters (Motocross stunts)
Do you think the media captures Bikers right? I can't say I know of any biker gangs, but I'd say the do a good job! They understand the connection between a man and his machine.

Some show some of the life, and some of it is made up, scripted etc. Living here in southern California, the Mongols MC is well known. They have a violent history, as well as a ruff history with the Hells Angels up north. SOA is a decent show, I love it!

Most of the North-America made documentaries or movies end up revolving around Harleys. I liked "Why we ride" because it doesn't center on any particular motorcycle style.

I still haven't watched anything that covers the motorcycle use in other countries like China or India for example.
I get that the media covers certain "educated" kind of riders but they leave out the majority, a huge mass of "uneducated" riders. And with that I mean educated about motorcycle riding, not a PhD in mechanics or anything like that.

yeah I understand. And It would be good to see a documentary about riding in india, shits crazy over there

We will always be the bad guys.. Cause we are different

Media portraying us correctly? No.. Just like the dont portray muslims/africans/ well bladdy anybody correctly.

They focus on the bad apples..

I don't think that's true at all, we are usually cast as brave, and adventurous. Those in biker gangs are portrayed as Anti-Heroes.

Let me get this straight, by media I don't mean News. I mean Documentaries and Tv series. I which case Watch Long Way Round or down. They make those two look like bloody superheros. although they did put a lot of work in and as much as I'd love to do that kinda riding, there constant battles with the unpredictable roads gives me nightmares.

They reason why I say not the news is because we all know its a ton of Crap, written to please most people.

Fair enough, but typically you would use the general term media for news etc.

In films and series bikers are always bad asses, I agree.

I don't ever rate the News though, I stay up to date sure. But if they aren't just going along with public opinion they are just being paid to bend the truth

You said that already in the post above mine :p That's a whole different topic though.

I get what you mean now and am in full agreement that we are bad asses in films and series.
