I think the title states it all but I ant to expand by channel. I don't like the idea of just voice blogs.

Anyway, I've been reading a lot about the
Sony ECM CS10

Has anyone else used this? My main concern is wind noise?

Hey Dan - not the technical info you're after, but you might find this idea interesting:

Low on funds, I could not afford an after market exhaust or a separate sound recording device, so I got a 2nd drift mic, a $3 mic extension lead and a $4 two into one adapter. I have one mic in my helmet and the second is in my seat bag, positioned over the exhaust & wrapped in some foam and a small towel. I run the extension from the helmet through my jacket so a short bit hangs out the bottom and allows me to plug that into the seat-bag mic (also auto-disconnects if you forget by just un-plugging itself).

The result is I can have just the helmet mic, just the exhaust mic or both together. Both together sound great, when I rev the engine it doesn't sound like the weak Honda cb500x exhaust at all! :)
The towel is how I "mix" the sound levels - more layers of towel = less engine noise etc. The towel also completely eliminates wind noise...

I did original try this method with the 2nd mic in my back pocket, which worked great, except when I was slow riding, like parking, it sounded like I had a severe flatulence problem

That's pretty neat, have you got a link or something that shows the two in one that you use??

You should do a video?

Hi mate - it's just a little splitter thing, like you would buy from a hi-fi shop - same thing you would use to plug two headphones into one socket.

I really want to do a gear and set-up vid, for people with more sense than money, lol

One of my vids has a section with the camera facing me dubbed with music. The raw footage sound came out well and all I did was remove the mic from my helmet and cram it inside the screen.

I've heard that taping the mic under the pillion seat yields good results for exhaust sound.

hrm .... got an altenative idea for you also bossman ...

the following vid link is my drift ghost inside a drift waterproof case ... no mic plugged in .. just the sound of the bike transmotted through the case ..

there is an annoying rattle occasionally ... thats a continuing issue with trying to get the drift mount clip thingy stabilised in the base ..

the cam was obviously mounted down low on the right side fairing .. in front of the brake at a safe distance.. it does work though...

and the waterproof case also provides a little 'armor' for the cam .... AND .. you can take it swimming or somesuch also!! .. so its a multi benefit deal eh!!

oh and a minor note .. since i only have the one camera so far ... ive used a paint pen to make little tiny white dots around the perimeter of 'just behind the rotating lens head' ... at the spots where the lens is upright for various mount positions .. makes it less fiddly when swapping locations .. line up arrow and dot ... done ... got 3 spots so far :)

drift users will know what i mean ... goprodders will be all o_O
