Bell Mx 9 Adventure Setup...

While I do love my Fly F2 it's just not a great road going helmet.

Picked up a Bell MX9 Adventure along with the Dark Smoke shield and got started.

Forget using the standard gopro mounts if you want the camera under the visor.

I opted to go with 2 neodymium magnets to create a clamp type mount. Even this small size is incredibly strong, they have to be handled carefully or you'll end up with a nice blood blister!

I took the blackout case, carefully chopped off the mounting tabs and epoxied the first magnet right to the case.

The second one sits ontop of the visor and was painted black. The bell logo is a perfect centering point for the magnet. I haven't epoxied the 2nd one to the visor yet as I found its a great tool to extract a sticky oil filter on my KTM :D

I'm using a BOYA mic that I picked up a while ago to get some audio while running the NYC marathon. This is a non powered mic and the sound quality has been great so far!

I've ridden a good amount with this setup and the camera doesn't move an inch, its also faster to re-mount during battery changes!

I have a video in the works as well

Magnets huh. How are they holding up at fast speeds? How much of force do you need to peel the housing off from the magnet contact (to charge battery, etc)?

I would have a tether though, never can be too safe. Speaking from recently losing a camera to the highway (casing neck snapped off, no idea roughly where/when it happened, almost zero chance of recovery).

The dead cat you have someone might mistaken it for some facial hair stuck to the helmet, LoL!

Cool setup.

Had the KTM over 100mph and the wind force from that bike is way stronger than anything with comfort in mind!

To get the camera off the visor you need 2 hands, its ON there

I may add a tether to the underside of the visor as well if I notice any movement

No interference with the camera at all!

Doesn't the magnet interfere with the camera? Or has technology moved on?

I tried that mic position, but I kept getting a mouthful of dead cat

No interference and the wind blocker doesn't touch my beard at all!

In the interest of providing an example, this was filmed with the setup above

Hmm interesting. I'm eyeing off this style of helmet for some other riding I'm thinking of getting involved in.

After some discussion from this thread here

https://motovlog.com/threads/school-me-on-senas.12837/

I picked up a Sena SMH10R for the MX9

Mounted the communicator on the left side with the included double sided tape

Mounted the battery pack on the back

Ran the wiring into the helmet liner. The included speaker velcro was far too tall for my cheek pads so I picked up some low profile stuff from the hardware store.

you definitely have to play around with speaker location to get it right over your ear for the best audio quality

and the sena mic is run up near the gopro mic

Overall nice add on for the helmet, it was nice being able to talk to the other riders. The audio quality is good enough, I think they could do some work on the speakers. Plenty of dropping issues but I suppose that's to be expected with BT tech until it improves. Was pretty easy to get sync'd back up even on the go

If I were just riding by myself I'd likely just look for a pair of headphones that worked well with the helmet and use my phone for GPS, music e/t/c.

Is their allot of wind noise by your ears with that helmet? I've been looking at different duel sport helmets because I've already put mine threw hell its time for a new one.

I've got a SHOEI Hornet X2, It's cool and quiet, also it's got inbuilt cut outs for the SENA speakers, so much better than my old helmet which was a SHARK EVO 850.
