In Norway they don't put up signs and they don't fix the roads. If they somehow would fix the road they just put a bunch of asphalt into the pothole, stomp it a couple of times and call it a day.

So far from the truth. Its not something they measure in the "quality of life" reviews, so B-roads are pretty degraded

Sad but true ... but as you said it has improved a lot. Otherwise I wouldnt know what al the roadworks in this country are for!

well the last time I was in Belgium the worst road I came across was a pay road (tolweg).
