I put some 3m velcro on the battery pack and some on my camera's case. I want to shorten the wire, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I wrapped the extra length around the camera mount with a few zip ties to keep it secure.

I shortened the wire on the one I used to have, and then put it in my inside pocket on my jacket (chest one)

its been a fucking nightmare but ive done it, mainly by gathering loose wire and sticking it down under my helmet cover and in my helmets cavity, defo needs shortening though apart from that looks like a tidy job, might do a vid on it.

You have to cable manage it, wrap it as tight as possible and stow it away where it can't move. On my MX helmet I slid it under the center attachment point for the visor (i'll grab a pic later), allows access to turn the mic on and change the battery while preventing the excess cable from moving...

I've heard of success and more so failure of shortening the cable. I have not tried.

I see plenty of people leave the battery pack on the outside of the helmet, is it waterproof? By being in FL, this thing is going to get wet often during the summer.

I'd call it "water resistant" but proof not so much...

There's a video on my channel about how I manage the cable e/t/c

Mine is velcroed to the back of my helmet. I didn't shorten the wire, I just kind of routed it through the shell... about 9 times..

I've discovered there is a surprising amount of room under the little flap that most helmets have at the back of the head opening. I have a bunch of the extra cable (what did they think people needed all this cable for?) under there, and I bet you could fit that pack under the other side. Mine isn't plugged into the camera, so it is under my jacket running to a bag on my hip, and the little battery pack sits in my armpit, barely notice it. Not a useful tip if you have everything connected on your lid though.

Its a speaking mic that we've made work for what we do...

I've mentioned some audio house would be smart to release a vlog mic that comes with good sound deadening and other small features many of us improvise on...

It's such a tiny market it's not worth investing any R&D into.

Yup. Audio Technica do make some limited production broadcast mics but they're serious money.
