ARGHHH - It didn't record

Today i went and did a whole bunch of footage that was going to make up my next 3 or so videos. Perfect warm weather and my gopro remote was almost flat so i decided to start the recording manually. So i took my helmet off, press the record button. Red light on, LCD says recording....so i put my helmet back on.

So i did a whole bunch of laps, blah blah and got what i thought would be some really good footage. An hour later and my lunch break is over. I press stop as i get off and it starts recording.....my heart sinks. Yup....didn't record a damn thing!

How many times have you had one of those moments when you hit record, the light goes on and then you set off. Little do you know that the recording decided to stop 3 seconds after. From now on i will always make sure my remote is working properly.

Got meetings and training second half of the week so looks like my channel will be a bit sleepy for what will be 3 weeks now (been renovating my kitchen the past 2 weeks).

/End rant.
 
I think i will rig up a little place to mount my remote so i can see that its recording all the time. It has a keyring mount but i am not sure i want to do that. Might zip tie it to the bars

I've never known a gopro to freeze up to be honest. I've had two now
 
I had this happen a few times because of low battery or card full when I was using an 8GB card.
I don't know about the gopro but the Drift has a "remote" LED you can plug into the USB port.
It lights up dimly when the camera is on and bright red when it's recording. You throw that into your helmet and you can see what the camera is doing when it's out of view.
 
my last near miss didnt get recorded, Missed it by about 30seconds

Yes this has happened to me, audio too, very frustrating. I need to start a check system so that I confirm before heading out.

I never leave my place without PWK (phone wallet keys) however I seem to forget CAR (camera audio record)...and yes i just made that one up :D

Also this is another good aspect of the under visor mount, you can see the blinking red led if you look almost directly up
 
Mine recorded yesterday but just at the end when it was time to say adios, the battery died... I forgot to charge the thing earlier (so I had to go out a second time to do it ~_~ ). One of the "why?!" moments of the day :p .....

how do you check the audio?
 
For me its making sure the MIC is ON, the 3550 has the on/off.

I will also check the audio/vid/angle by doing a quick test vid and preview from the app over wifi
 
Been there, done that... So pissed as I saw the most awesome corvette I had ever seen. Sounded so good... I did my vlog on the way home... and talked about being a dumbass...

Even now, in dashcam mode I sometimes turn it off and then back on to save on file-size. Then something happens, I want to turn the cam off to cut off the footage and it boots the cam up. Damnit... Not recorded...
 
I found that i had the video setting on some random resolution, so i am wondering if that was causing issues coupled with pro-tune. I have just finished 2 weeks of holidays and a week on training for work. So i will try it out again when the rain pisses off. Got myself a new suction mount, so i might do a tail mount video and that way i can just look back and see if it is recording.
 
Did it again this morning. I just re-formatted my memory card which apparently can help with this sort of shit. Gonna be pissed if it fails to record during this lunch time ride.
