Arai Quantum St Helmet Mic Setup

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone out there had any advice on mic placement in an Arai Quantum ST Helmet. I have a standard Drift mic and I have an Olympus ME-52W. The Olympus mic is a little bit bulky making placement difficult. I am sure a lot of the noise I get is from the helmet itself but I was thinking I could modify one of the cheek pads.

I guess my questions are these.

Does anyone one have any advice for my mic placement?

Has anyone modified a cheek pad to make way for a mic? Did this have a positive effect?

Thanks any and all help.

Just posted this on another link but thought it was relevant here as well. I have same issue with Arai Chaser V and a Caberg helmet...really don't think the helmets are the problem....

"Word of advice on mics... I bought a decent Olympus ME-52W and it is just too sensitive, you need a dead cat the size of a bear to cut out the wind noise. If you start with a lower spec mic but have close placement to mouth and good dead cat it will probably be better, because the mic does not have the range to pick up everything around it. The other alternative is a very expensive powered mic that allows you to adjust the gain setting ect.. but this is probably over kill for vlogging."
