Alarmed Disc Lock?

Has anybody used an alarmed disc lock if so would you recommend it?

It has it's usefulness but some might be a little too sensitive, or gets easily corroded, ruining the battery or electronics. Even some of the branded ones face this problem. You have to be vigilant changing out the battery otherwise it will just be a regular disk lock without the alarm. The alarm function is nice but like I mentioned sometimes it's too sensitive and might just end up draining the battery and annoying people close by.

I have the Xena one, I forgot the brand bought it a while back. I mainly bought it because I keep my bike outside. I've had it for about a year and haven't had any issues with it.

I've seen a few videos on youtube, I think that it depends on where you live Is it really necessary?

When my KTM was robbed, it had an alarmed disk lock fitted, the scumbags just prised it off like it was made of plastic. They couldn't get the padlock and chain off though so stole that too.... Would have been cheaper to insure it with no anti theft devices than what I had paid out on the chain alone..... If a thief wants your bike they will get it. Better off using the money towards replacing the bike when it gets nicked sometimes :-(

Only problem with the Street Triple is a big heavy chain won't fit under the seat, you'd probably need to take a tailpack.

So how did they manage not to draw anybody's attention from the alarm and move a locked bike do you rekon? I assume thats a big bike and they couldn't lift it?

it was an enduro bike, could pick it up and carry it (100kg ish) They utterly smashed up the door to my garage too, would have made a hell of a lot of noise but no one heard them. They also smashed down my fence to get out through mine and my neighbours garden. God knows how I didn't hear as my bedroom window looks out to my garden.

or have drunk too much wine... had some mates over that night.... which is what made it surreal.... Had a brand new 1098cc Ducati Streetfighter S, a brand new Suzuki GSX-R 1000, and a brand new Kawasaki Z1000 in the garage and they only took the KTM, they even moved the Z1000 out the way to get the bike out.

I have since turned my garage into fort knox and added CCTV and an alarm as well as some other stronger security measures, but will probably never buy a dirt bike again. :-(
