Adverts On Youtube Playing In The Middle Of Videos Now?

dandoolittle

Site owner, lovely and adorable
I tend to listen to DJ mixes etc while I work. Today I've noticed that adverts have started showing up every ten minutes of a video now?

These are adsense/overlay adverts, not inserted into the video etc

Anyone else noticed that?

Nope. Can't because of my job.

I've never seen mid video adverts and only just noticed it on this mix

People have had the option to put in mid-play video adverts for many months now.

I've had the option on my own account for 2 months but I haven't enabled them as they're the epitome of obnoxious.

Luckily ad blockers still work perfectly, unless you are one of those people that use "AdBlock" (if so... why?!).

There's been skippable ads in some videos. Worst thing is they can crop in midsentence, which is really frustrating.

But then you cant complain that you dont get ad revenue...

Yep, I'm happy for everyone to make their own choice, and I understand that using/promoting ad blockers means I get less revenue too. I have unblocked adverts for a few YouTube channels I follow and appreciate though who do it for a living.

I personally find adverts on the web far too intrusive over the pas 10 years. Back in the days when you'd just have a header banner at the top of a page I was fine with having them there. Now that there are 10's of adverts per page (on every sidebar, between forum posts, on every video) I just block everything.

I only enable the ones at the beginning in mine, but lately, I try to keep it around 5 minutes anyway. I think the mid-stream ads are annoying. I don't use an ad blocker, but I'm planning to start, because it's not just YouTube. Seems like every page on the web beats the hell out of you with ads before you can read anything.

Ads can appear anytime in videos, multiple ads for the longer videos (> 1 hour). If I am watching video on iPad, I don't have Adblock working, I have will click the "skip ad" after the mandatory 4 seconds wait. I can live with that. Once there was a forced ad (no skip option), that is what I can't accept.
