With you and premium - maybe you will have some insight into the stats for geeks and bitrate? Will be interesting to see how it pans out. I don't get any ads on what I watch because I use YouTube Premium, so thankfully I have not had to put up with some of the crazy amounts of midroll ads in the past. I do recommend anyone who has a monetised channel does the same once the ad revenue you make becomes more than the cost of YouTube Premium as it makes watching videos a much nicer experience, and still lets creators earn money from your view which doesn't happen when viewers use ad-blockers.
Only what we have already discussed in the past... by upscaling 1080 to get the VP9 codec... I wonder if that is all they mean by their high bitrate? They just automatically get the VP9 codec on their 1080 uploads, so don't need to upscale? With you and premium - maybe you will have some insight into the stats for geeks and bitrate?
I wondered that too because I tried to avoid non skippable ads on my stuff. Will YT take notice when, or if viewership drops drastically with the heavy wave of intrusive ads? Or if there is a high level of anger from monetize channel owners?

I believe high bitrate is on the viewer side, not on the uploader side. Also, to actually use it, you would need to pay for premium... by upscaling 1080 to get the VP9 codec... I wonder if that is all they mean by their high bitrate?...
