I only block the intrusive adverts, like the clips that play at the start of YouTube videos.

If people want to make money from advertising towards me they need to make them unobtrusive and relevant.

Do people have to pay for ad-blocking software? If so, those companies must be doing great.

Don't blame ad-blocking. If they weren't being such smart-asses coming up with hella intrusive ads that annoy people, most people wouldn't bother to ad-block. However when you have annoying ads that interrupts people's activity, then people will start to find a way to stop it. That's just simple logic.
