360 tests

Hello folks!

I'm starting to mess around with the concept of 360 videos.

I want to mix 2D content with the 360 content
mainly trying to find a equirectangular image of a room with 3/4 green screens, hardwood floor or even a cinema setting

I've created 2 test videos;

tell me which one you think will work better.
Option 1:

Option 2:

I think you better watch it on mobile and not on desktop.

TIA

Interesting. Are you going to keep t concept of the audience sitting at fixed point while the action is just in one direction?

Also, will there be popcorn?

1. Nope
about 60% of my content is in 2D (from the helmet cam)
and in those parts, I'm planning on using this format

but for 40% of my 360 content, I'm gonna change the view to a full 360.
The camera (Insta360 OneX )is on the bar.
the plan is to make some kind of seamless transition between 2D and 360
just need to learn how to do so.

in the second part, I've added an instagram logo
just this small thing, added about 20% more render time!

2. Only to my subscribers ;)

Ah, so 360 with action all around then splice in 2D but set in a 360 type setting so YouTube keeps it all together.

Very good indeed. Has potential for sure.

Really interesting concept. It would be cool if you could have the fixed window video when you wanted it directed and have it transition to full 360 when desired. Am not sure YouTube has that ability though... I hope you are able to do something like that though. This could be pretty awesome :-)

A 360 theater displayed on a flat screen is kinda pointless in my opinion. If are looking for ways to direct the users attention you can darken everything but the highlight in a true 360 video. and if you are going to just show normal pancake video in the 360 theater then you spend a lot of resolution and bandwidth on essentially unused pixels.

Andy Man Cam rocks both 360 regular video, and instead of giving the viewer control when showing 360 content he instead pans the view around in editing as he splices the 360 with regular pancake vid. And then he releases full 360 vids seperately later.

you are not wrong,

I think I'll put out 2 videos as well.
one will be a splices of the 360, just like any other normal video
and one in 360 format (but I will need to add some 2D content somehow)

@AndyManCam feel free to drop some protips ;)

right now, this is more a proof of concept than anything else,
just trying to mess around and understand my limitations.
