Does anybody know what a 2012 Honda CBR600F would ride like with a 33bhp restriction kit? I would be keeping the bike after my restricted period is finished, but would the restrictor ruin the bike? The other option of course is the Yamaha XJ6 Diversion F, how would that ride? It would be a great help, thanks! :)

While we wait for the floppy haired fountain of all knowledge, can you tell us how long your restriction period will be?

Well, my opinion - for what it matters, is why would you want to take a 100bhp bike and restrict it to 33bhp for 2 years? By the end of the 2 years you'll probably want something different anyway (this seems more true of bikes than most things).

Getting say an ER6F or SV650 will be cheaper while still being very good bikes, will perform better restricted due to the way the twins deliver the power and you have the Honda to pine after/look forward to at the end of your restriction period.

I'm not over keen on parallel twins, but I do quite like the SV650 (With the fairing of course) But I've been told that they're not very good bikes. :L

By who exactly? Considering the price new - the SV650s are brilliant value for money - and because of that won't depreciate much at all.

Worth getting the opinion of some SV650 riders, past and present, because I have to say I have heard the exact opposite of what you have.

Hmmm, I'll have another look into the SV650 then. What do you think of the Yamaha XJ6 Diversion F?

Dunno much about the Diversion F tbh - I've seen them around and quite liked the look of the Divvy, but I'm a little biased against Yamaha for some reason - I really can't explain why as I've no idea...

This thread made me giggle.

Regardless of what everyone has said, I can't help you. My CBR was never restricted due to buying it after my restriction period ended.

However I can tell you that in my opinion you'd be wasting your time and money by restricting one. There is no point. Restricted inline 4s are lame compared to twins - especially one that revs so high up.
Wait till you're off your restriction.

SV 650 brill little bike, never seen a bad review...

The SV is supposed to be a great bike, but the one I tried was a back breaker! Wouldn't want to travel further than the local chippy with that riding position
