2 Up 1st Time!

So, I finally rode with a passenger on board! Yesterday was the first time I rode with a passenger on the back of my bike. My girlfriend (mind you, had never ridden a motorcycle before) joined me on a ride yesterday. We went over the basics and some ground rules for being a passenger, and came up with some hand signals for communication. She did extremely well for her first time. We even felt confident enough to ride about 30 minutes to and from bike night at Cycle Gear. It's actually not too hard to ride with someone on the back. It taught me to be even more aware and helped me learn how to control my bike in new ways.

Pretty cool stuff!

Sounds like you did it right by going over the passenger basics with her. I would do that a few more times no matter how many times she says "Yea I know". Remember her life is in your hands when riding. Other than that, get yourself some senas to communicate with. Makes it easier than all the hand signals. Most of all, Have a blast!

Absolutely! I plan on going over it while she's still learning. She did a great job regardless. The SENAs are my next big purchase. I want to get some dual vlog action too!

There is something about riding with your girl 2 up that makes you ride even more carefully. At least it does for me.

Yeah for me it's like I go into protection mode haha. If my wife is on the back then I think twice about every lane change, overtake, or turn that I make. Also with 2 up I usually tend to stay more in the slow lanes rather than fast lane and weaving like I do when I'm alone.

Pillions need to play their role while on the bike, there's articles and videos (if not mistaken) for pillions. A good pillion makes the ride enjoyable for both, a bad pillion makes the ride terrible for both as well.

i need to get out on my bike first.... bloody snow. but need a few more miles on my belt before i even consider a person on the back
