Dan this is a great cause. Its hard to tell people as a male that you are suffering from mental health until you get to the point its really gone too far.
I know from my own personal experience that long ago I should have put my hand up and said I need help.
Luckily I had someone with me when I needed them the most and that means I'm still here to type this.
If you need help just ask. I am amazed how many people came forward with not only help but their own personal stories.
I hope once I'm back to where I need to be I can help others as I have been helped myself.
I think I heard of this being a thing in the UK "Ask twice". As in ask a friend twice if they are ok or fine. I believe this makes a difference, its easier to say Im fine than to actually talk about your feelings.
Ask your friends twice if they are ok, if you suspect something ask, dont just take the easy route of "he said he was fine".
