General Mic Shootout - Which sounds the best? Do they all suck?

First, I have a Yamaha FJR-1300, with a motorized Windshield. I adjust that so most of the wind goes over my head. My helmet is a Shoe RF-1200 with the nose guard and wind guard installed. My microphone right now is the Sony ECM-CS3, which is a small stereo Lav mic. I have foam covers on both...

General Mic Shootout - Which sounds the best? Do they all suck?

All microphones sound more or less the same at low speeds. Getting good audio at over 60 mph is a whole different ball game. Most of my riding is between 60 to 90 mph, and getting rid of wind noise at those speeds is tough as hell. I think I got close to figuring it out last fall. I will do more...

Should You Start On A 600cc? Wrong Question

I'm glad my dad started me off on a mini bike back in the late 60's when I was around 12 years old. When I was 14, he got me a dirt bike. The day I turned 16, i got my motorcycle permit, and I took my road test about a couple of weeks after that. Starting that way today is probably not possible...

How Far Are You From The 10k Lifetime Views Monetization Goal.

I got over 163,000 views, 332 subscribers, and I haven't made a penny yet. My channel is basically about my being a DJ, and about my drone footage. All those videos have music on them that are monitored by the artists, so I don't make a dime on those. On my drone videos, I picked songs that...

The Quest For Clean And Constant Leveled Audio

Audio is one of those things that unless you get really lucky on your first try, you have to try a bunch of different things before you get it right. Also, what works for one person, doesn't necessarily work for somebody else. What works real good at 40 mph, might not necessarily work at 70 mph.

Flying Drone While Out On Bike

Yeah, I sure am. I haven't been on that forum in a while though, since I quit upgrading the firmware on the Mavic.

    Shades Or In Built Shades

I just got a Shoei Photochromic Transitioning face shield for my RF-1200 helmet. It wasn't exactly cheap, but it looks extremely cool, and it works perfectly. I wore it on a cloudy day, and on a sunny day, and it looked fine to me, and I no longer have to swap face shields or wear sun glasses...

I'm glad I asked. I didn't even think of the throttle hand thing, makes sense. Thanks.

    Show Your Motovlogging Setup!

After 10 years with the same helmet, I decided to treat myself this year. This is my new helmet. A Shoei RF-1200, with a Sony FDR-X3000 4K action cam sitting on top of it. The microphone is a Sony ECM-CS3 lapel mic, that I took completely apart, all the way to just the two stereo mic elements...

    Do You Nod?

So let me get this straight, in the UK you guys don't wave, you nod instead? In the USA, we mostly wave. What do other countries do. I'm curious.

    General Talking Cars....

Man, I thought you was going to run into the back of that pickup truck! My best car was a Red 1968 Corvette convertible that I had 30 years ago when I first got married. I sold it to buy my house. Today I drive a 1994 25th Anniversary Trans-Am, not as cool as the vette, but pretty close.

    Hello From Austin Texas!

I got close roads to me too, but usually you get stuck behind a slow car, and that takes all the fun out of it. So I usually have to ride about an hour out of town to hit the good roads.

    New Cape Cod Vlogger Here

Welcome to the forum. I like the CB350. I was around in the 70's, and always wanted a CB350. I ended up getting a new CB750 Four in 1975 when I lived in New York. I ended up moving to Texas on it in 1976. Rode it to Texas in February, froze my ass off! Today I own a 72 CB750 Four. I bought it...

    Hello From Austin Texas!

That's why I got it. Texas is a huge state, and a big sport tourer comes in handy for getting to the good motorcycle roads.

    Do You Nod?

Here in the states, we mostly wave. We nod if for some reason you can't take your hands off the handle bars, like at a stop light, where you have the clutch pulled in. I find that about 80% of riders wave. I don't know why some riders don't wave, maybe they didn't see me, maybe they are...

Most Annoying Thing On Your Bike?

If you Wikipedia "FJR-1300", the first sentence says is a sport tourer. If you Wikipedia "Sport Tourer", they tell you what a sport tourer is, and FJR ticks all the boxes, they even show a picture of 4 sport tourers, and the FJR is one of them. If you go to Yamaha's web site looking for an FJR...

To Stabilize Or Not To Stabilize? | That Is The Question

The optical stabilization on the new Sony FDR-X3000 is amazing, but you have to mount the camera in the right place. I have seen others mount it on the side of their helmet, but like others said, it acts weird. The video looks smooth, but the little bit of the helmet that is visible, moves all...

Most Annoying Thing On Your Bike?

Well, that's what Yamaha calls it. A sports tourer is a motorcycle that combines the performance of a sports bike, with the long distance capabilities and comfort of a touring bike. But you're right, it is heavy. It's basically a big sports bike that you sit upright on.

Most Annoying Thing On Your Bike?

I haven't upgraded my seat either since I normally just go on 3 or 4 hour rides around here. But if I ever decide to go cross country, I'll probably will change out the seat. I added a McCruise control to my bike which I absolutely love. My old bike was a Goldwing, and I got spoiled with the...

Do You Ride All Year Round...??

I probably ride less in the summer than I do the rest of the year. Mainly because I live in Texas, and July and August it is brutally hot those two months. Temperatures are close to 100 degrees and above most of the time. The rest of the year it's pretty nice, with the occasional freezing cold...

Most Annoying Thing On Your Bike?

On my Yamaha FJR-1300, which is a sport tourer, the thing most owners complain about the most about is the seat. It's not the mot comfortable long distance seat in the world, and it is one of the first thing most long distance riders change out.

Gopro Hero 5 Black & Hero 5 Session External Mic Fix

I have the Sony FDR-X3000 and the one touch recording doesn't work that well on that either. Most of the time, if the camera is off, you can hit the record button, and the camera will turn on and start recording. But every once in a while, if the camera is off, and you hit the record button, the...

    Share A Noobie Vlogging Tip!!

I'm a beginner motoblogger, so I'm not really an expert on giving advise, but after watching everybody else's videos trying to learn, the best advise I can give is, make sure you have nice clean loud audio. Anybody can mount a camera on their helmet and get nice video, but getting nice clean and...

That Moment You Record Your Vlog, But The Angle Is Tilted Badly.

I have a Sony FDR-X3000. That camera comes with a tripod socket, it doesn't come with a swivel mount like a Gopro. I have it mounted on the top of my helmet with a slide mount. There is no adjustment on it. No up and down adjustment, and no side to side adjustment. So the good thing is, once you...

Is There A Market For A Turn Key Motovlogging Helmet.

So is there a market for a high end turn key motovlogging helmet? I know there are cheap ways to get into motovlogging, but I have spent a ton of money on my setup, not all at once, but little by little. My Shoei RF-1200 was around $485. my Sena 20S was around $270. My FDR-X3000 was around $350...

Why You're Getting Wind Noise ...

Well I got ahold of an extra flat S20 helmet mic. It comes with a 2.5mm male mono plug. So I cut off the plug to wire it to both channels on my stereo extension cable, so I could get audio out of both channels. Big mistake! the wire in the 20S mic is not the same wire that is shown in the video...
