The road isn’t always the problem, it’s not being prepared for it. Lack of a riding strategy for what’s out there -- weather conditions, traffic volume, knowledge of your route, and where to place yourself in your lane, road, or highway makes a big difference between a great ride, and wondering why trouble seems to find you.

I find I tend to suffer more from imposter syndrome. I wish that was a subtle brag but I find it quite debilitating. It's the worst after I've struggled to learn something, and remember how long it took me the first time, and then I panic when I have to do it again, even though it would probably take me a tenth of the time and/or work.

I'm certain though that I fall prey to Dunning-Kruger as well, I mean, if I said that I never do...well we can see that going in circles, lol.

I do actively try to look for signs of it though, in my own behaviour. I can only hope that it helps me avoid it once in a while.

Easiest way of avoiding the DK trap in biking is, never take anything for granted, and have a usable plan B for each situation, apply the 70% rule.

don't go harder than 70% of your ability, gives you room to adjust your situation if it goes Pete-Tong! :)

Immature riders believe they own the road...The biggest enemy one the street is an ego and poor road education whether that be someone operating a car, motorcycle, bicycle or even a pedestrian. Licenses are given out like Halloween candy here in the US and its BEYOND dangerous.

^^^ WHAT HE SAID!! ^^^

Too many licenses just given away. People are taught to "pass the test" nowadays rather than learning to ride...
