Deleted My Footage :-(

Mr fish

It's not what , it's how
Had some good footage this week and managed to delete 99% whilst editing ..what a plonker ..so this weeks vid will consist of one mornings commute lol ..at least I swore a lot

Final pro x crashed and I had to force quit and it disappeared only some footage left ...so scraping the barrel this week ...oh well it was not meant to be (defenate oscar)

If I lose data I use a free application called "Panda Recovery". As the swiss motard stated, as long as your not still using the computer you should be able to recover all the data.

If you imported it into FCPX as an event, then it should still be in your FCPX project & events bundle (or project folder depending on the version)... it just might be orphaned. If it's 10.0.x, then just go to the Project & Events folder, then Final Cut Events, find your event's folder, then Original Media and then reimport. If it's 10.1.x, right click on your projects and events.fcpbundle, show package contents, find your event's folder, Original Media, copy the video file somewhere else and reimport.

Give that a try and hope it helps :) !

I've looked everywhere ...it's all gone ..oh well not meant to be I will put up a vid tomorrow just not the footage I wanted ..shit happens

Sorry to hear that, but it'll probably happen again some day. It happened to me a few weeks ago.
Shit happens I suppose ...I'm always having to juggle storage (daughters use it for music)and because I'm not the most computer gifted i lose stuff lol

Best to backup all files before editing IMO, straight to the external HDD then pull off whatever I need local for editing...

I second, third or eonth Recuva. I myself have used this when I goofed using RoboCopy and practically deleted an entire folder. I managed to get back most of my stuff, but naturally the biggest near miss in existence was gone. The only problem with the recovery software is that you need enough space on another HDD to recover it to. And with 1080p footage that's a big task.

I have never heard of editing software deleting footage though. If that happened to me whilst using Vegas I'd look for another editing suite.

ouch man... I just got back from a ride and got some pretty good footage. Only to find me lens cap was on when I got home.
