Neil - The Rider Guider
CRAZY stuff happening in Rider Guider Towers ... this is my life now, it has taken since 2002 but got the current wifey on board. Tonights conversation over a glass of local Cabernet Sauvignon whilst sat outside the pub with our very spoilt dog, was about her next motorbike! She's only had her XT250 two months! Has her 'Rider Safe' course this coming weekend after which (Sunday arvo) she'll be on the road. She says "right, so, July in the school hols (she's a teacher) what I'm gonna get is a Royal Enfield Himalayan and I want a helmet camera and one on my handlebars so I can have a chat"!!! That'll be a new Motovloggist then o_O:D ... life will never be the same.

@Riderguide that's awesome man! i got my wife to start riding with me last year and even got her to do a motovlog with me but it has never seen the light of day due to audio issues. its always awesome to share something with your partner that you can both enjoy. its even more fun when you are the one who exposed them to it. ;)

My wife decided she wanted to ride her bike Saturday, so of course I brought out ALL the cameras and got some really good footage - and she even got into it. She doesn't want a mic or a camera on her helmet, but she said next time I can put a camera somewhere on her bike... so I'll have to decide which one and where... but she got into it on our ride and gave me some NEAT shots to play with in the editor.

I was cracking up laughing while getting the footage into a rough cut last night... I can't wait to finish this one and share it!

That's awesome!

My girlfriend loves going for rides on the back of my bike but she has no interest in riding a bike of her own. I'm fine with that though, we have tons of fun riding together and being able to talk constantly.

That's where it starts! She'll see the footage and then the seed will grow mate haha, make sure you share it on here too. #motovloggerswives might take off LOL

Oh, I will for SURE share it here - but I highly doubt she'll be vlogging on her own. She's fine with me doing the vlog thing, but she has no interest in it.

I'll keep on her though, at least to join me on rides I can record. If I could just set her up with an app or something to record her SENA, so I can get better audio :D

BRILLIANT - does she have her own bike too? It's exciting for me that she's going to bring something different to my channel, she has some great ideas. I'm just amazed at how she has quickly turned in to a rider and embracing it. She's loving the new found skill and hadn't realised just how much input and what a great thing it is to ride. This weekend can't come quick enough for her. She'll be legally on the road Sunday but most of what she's looking forward to is off the beaten track adventure riding.

Chantal had us buy wireless microphones so we can chat on the road and have separate audio. We'll be conversing on the Cardo set ups. Part of her learning to ride off road will be what we're going to be uploading along with some other ideas she's come up with. I'm looking forward to her doing some bike and gear reviews, being a teacher she's much better in front of the camera than I am.

Oh man, that gives me a great idea - I could get one of those Rode Wireless Go 2-mic setups, and stuff one in her helmet! Then it would record both mics to my setup, which would probably be easier for me to edit.

EXACTLY what we have ... great piece of kit, picked up the sound of one of my farts at 50mph a couple of weeks ago :-D proud moment that I uploaded to my channel LOL

That's great to hear, wish her ride safe & safe ride on her travels, but don't forget to remind her that the main focus should be on riding, paying attention to the road, the surroundings, being defensive, being prepared, etc.

Since she is new to riding, those should be her primary concern, and not if the camera is rolling, is the camera angle right, what to talk about while riding, etc.

Personally if it was me, for the beginning I would not give her any camera, or at least I will do all the setup, angle, turning it on/off for her, so all she does is just focus on riding and nothing else, I will accompany her on the riding and record from 3rd person view, so she won't have to think about the footage or recordings. Just focus on the ride and the road.

Once she get more used to road riding and all the focus needed for it, then she can start her motovlogging journey.

That's my opinion anyway. :)

I saw your vid, that was HILARIOUS!

I also agree with SighBored - make sure she's safe first, recording second. I'm following the same mantra for my wife... If I put a camera on her bike, I'll be in charge of it and all she has to do is ride.

Oh hell yeh she's not gonna be touching my kit LOL. She's very safety conscious. I'm literally her guide when we get out, there'll be lesson recordings but she'll only be doing the riding.

Did you wire the Rode receiver to your GoPro, or do you have it plugged into a tascam or something like that?

I think I would tape it to my helmet and wire it into my GoPro, and then put the 2nd one in my wife's helmet and go.
