Yamaha says no to cameras

Apparently Yamaha will not be allowing us to use an camera s during demo rides as of now. Your thoughts.?

It kind of makes sense as they will not want folk to slate their products, but is also a little short sighted as we all love watching reviews on the bikes we have an interest in. When it gets harder and harder to get a demo, YouTube is often a good or at least a viable substitute!

Shoot I still havent mustered up the will to even test ride the bikes at my local dealer. One day I'll build enough of rapport with them to where I'm not some weirdo coming into motovlog on their bikes lol

The trouble with YouTube is you get a lot of folk stating an opinion as a fact, and folk thinking their knowledge and understanding is greater than it is. Take Yamaha's Nikken or whatever it is called, if I were to review that I'd possibly give it a more negative review as I have my own preconceptions of the bike and it is not something I'd want in my garage, so I'd not really be selling it to those that have a genuine interest in the bike/trike thingimy!

Be the weirdo! And don't let shyness get in the way. Just remember you're gutsy enough to record yourself talking inside of your helmet, you edit together, and put it out so anyone in the WORLD with an internet connection can watch it! Just go and geek out over motorcycles and keep buggin them until they let you take the bikes out.

Totally a reason for your opinion. So that the buyer gets any many view points.

Quite often an opinion is given without a fair explanation to why that opinion is held, It is like saying a 125cc bike is gutless and can't maintain speed.... when the rider is 240 lb or a bike doesn't handle very well when the rider has just passed their test, too many variables that are unique to the person in the saddle and not the majority of people watching the vid.
Am just playing devil's advocate here... personally I think allowing youtubers to wear cameras and have their thoughts is a good thing, all publicity is good publicity... mostly.
I'm sort of bike shopping at the moment but my closest dealership for the brand I am interested in is around 2.5hrs-3hrs drive away so I need to see real life reviews but can't find many in English for the bikes I like.

If the brands themselves say no, you can still strike a deal with the dealers or shops if you have a close enough connection.

On the other hand, people that go around declaring themselves "..I'm a motovlogger.. ..Give me bike to test.." doesn't sit well with me either. I say this because I don't see myself that way. I hardly ever tell anyone I'm a motovlogger or YouTuber or please check out my channel or anything like that. When I go to such events, I go as an average biker guy..

I have agree with some of you that people that slap a camera on their helmet and go around claiming themselves to be motovlogger/YouTuber with the intention of getting things to try or review because they are "motovlogger/YouTuber" is giving others that don't such things a bad name in general.. And it has become the trend, you know how hard it is to stop a trend, just hope it dies out sooner than later.. Which I don't see happening though.

Just because some on says they are wanting authority doesn't mean the viewers buy in. Let the viewers have w choice. Viewers can got my page look at my reviews and see for themselves if I know my stuff. They can also comment hen they think I am wrong or on point. This leads to a community being well informed. If my claim is eronious people will hit the dislike button. They will unsubscribe etc. We need riders who do not work for companies that producing bikes to do reviews. When ever I watch a review if I learn the reviewer works for the company I am immidiately skeptical.

@HippoDrone Why would you ( or another reasonably mannered rider) test and review a bike they have no interest in at all?

The way I see it, even if the reviewer was 240 and was going to review a 125cc is it because their audience might be interested? Is it because the rider is interested trashing bikes?

Regardless, the video can be helpful. Like the idea I floated when this came up a little while ago - we sign an agreement that the footage will be preserved in the event of an incident. It is just a best practice.

Heck, I would not be surprised if a bike manufacturer was not already pulling a Harley Earl and recording riders just for market research.
