Standards have changed so much within the past few years and it also really depends on what kind of computer you have

. FireWire 800 was once the gold standard... but now there's USB 3.0, Thunderbolt, etc. If your computer has an additional internal HDD bay, then that's on option if your bus speed is fact enough

(SATA, etc.). Then to top it all off with a Cherry

- instead of using a standard 7200rpm HDD, go for a solid state drive... they blow everything out of the water @o@ ! My favorite is the SanDisk Extreme Pro SDD... but this is a top-of-the-line SSD (and pricey - most SDDs still are nowadays but have been coming down in price recently

~) and if your bus or transfer speed is muted, then it's kind'a a waste :/ . A good second is the SanDisk Ultra II - almost just as good

. Also be aware that a SSD is nearly the same dimensions as a standard laptop HDD (2.5"; as apposed to a standard, full full sized 3.5" HDD) and you'll need an adapter probably - like the following:

...the cleavage here is that a number of computers have HDD temperature sensors... so if you just paste the HDD into the machine instead of using an adapter, then your computer's fans might go haywire

So in summery, it just depends on what kind of setup you have, what you're aiming for and what you're able to do

. Hope this helps a little ^_^ !~.....
