Insurance Costs?

I had my renewal letter through a few days ago, managed to find a cheaper quote online and they have matched that which I'm happy with.

For my 1996 CBR900RR valued at £1500 and used only for social and domestic (no commuting) with 5 years no claims, third party fire and theft, my insurance is £202 a year.

Is this more than the average on here?
What are everyone insurance costs? and for what bike and options ect?

Would be interested to know.

Cheers

Your age will be a factor, despite riding history. When was your last accident too? For the Deau at my age, it was £90 TPFT for 12000 miles a year with 3 years NCD, obviously a less desirable bike to steal and considerably less powerful at about 1/3 your bhp. Probably not too far off, especially as you live within the ring road area (factor where we live). Also has a bearing on if your bike is in a locked garage etc. Outdoors round the back bikes cost more to insure, and security devices can be a factor.

At 3yrs NCD and on a pricer bike, TPFT on the ST (and Deau) was a tad more than you're paying ;) FC was like - How 'kin much?! but managed to get a deal. Downside of upping the CC on your bike....

24 years old
2004 r1
4 years with M Liscence
no tickets

Was quoted $260 a month.
I decided to go with liability which is $33 a month right now...

They said it depends a lot on the state and apparently bikes get jacked and crashed here a lot. FYI I did check with more then 6 agencies and they were all more then that =(

I have a 2015 grom and have the bare minimum coverage but pay $130 a month.
Been getting a lot of speeding tickets lately on the grom?
I was so close to buy a grom and I don't remember the exact premium but it was nowhere that much for the minimum. Of course state minimums vary state to state

Kawasaki ER-6f 650cc 2010 Age 40+ £300 Full Comp, had 3 claims in the last 5 years all not my fault oh and now one speeding ticket or worse still to come so it may change soon ;)

If you can blag it to a fixed penalty, it probably won't make much difference to your insurance.

You sought any advice on that yet?

I'm in Texas. Age 4. 2007 Ducati 1098s. About 18,000 miles on it. Full coverage $500 a year or so. My old bike was a Triumph Bonneville America. 28000 miles 796cc only $175 a year for full coverage. CCs and type of bike make all the difference.

When I was 21 a lot of insurance companies only went by CCs and type of bike had no bearing. A 1200cc Harley Sportster was the same as a 1000cc Superbike! I was quoted $3000 a year by Geico! Ended up with Dairyland at only $1500 a year. My insurance payments were more than my bike payment!

One of the few benefits of getting old.

Insuring a bike in the state of Virginia also cost a lot more than doing it in Texas. About a $500 a year difference if I remember right.

£600 a year for GSXR l5 1000 and ZX6r (day time mot) - My GSXR is a company vehicle though. Only business miles

Prices on insurance really is a postcode lottery to be honest. A house claim two doors up could cause your own car insurance to go up etc. Its not just age and experience

I sold and dealt with insurance claims for about 4 years :)

People think insurance is age, what they drive and points but it really is a LOT more than that, like stuff you wouldn't think of!

What people forget is that insurance is a business that makes money, yea they will find any reason not to pay out but lets face is...Most of use take the piss....Even if its putting on a couple of stickers. Thats still a mod! Doens't matter how you look at it, if you don't tell them then your claim gets reduced etc...They make the rules for a reason

I know stickers and tank pads are a mod, but it has zero effect on bike value or performance so a bollocks excuse. Although all my extras on the Honda and the STrumpet didn't affect the insurance cost.

all the modifications on my bike i declared and it only added a tenner to my

Absolutely but stickers are a mod if you don't tell the insurance company, that's the persons fault. They were asked

as my bike has custom tribal decals on it and is declared so if i add extra stickers they wouldn't know as they didn't ask me what stickers are on it of for photographic evidence
