I look at my subscriber count, but never too closely. It's one of those things that you better not focus on too much. People tend to always think they don't have enough with the likes of 6foot4, doitwithdan and jakethegardensnake around flirting or passing half a million subscribers. I myself am sitting at just over 2.2K right now. Nothing compared to the greats, but if all those people would come together you got a lot of people! And it took me nearly 3 years to get to that point.

Why do you do it? For fun? Keep it fun! Everyone wants to gain subscribers, I am no different. But I won't get bothered if I loose some. It happens, and those where the people I didn't want on my channel anyway.

People like Jake and 6foot4 are only able to have that many subs and are able to make a living off it because they were the early birds. The rest of us don't have the opportunity anymore.

i agree with lurch the ones who have made it are lucky and have grate content they are by no means the early birds even jake admits in a video hes 3rd generation there have been undescoverd motovlogers long before any of them

Yea, luck is a HUGE part of becoming recognized and I think location also is part of it.

American motovloggers get the most exposure because they have a huge audience they can relate to, and it's easier to tap there. Once you got that big American populace down, international recognition becomes a breeze.

People like me? I come from a frickin island. And the way Youtube manages their recommendations places videos within the same country higher. So I only get a handful of viewers from my own country which isn't much. Without a following to back it up, nobody in the US is going to even be remotely be interested in stuff going on in an Asian channel.

I think Hunter Honda grew by about 150k subscribers this past year. Unfortunately, like everything else in life, a select few, through luck or something else, will find major success while the rest of us slog away for peanuts. Not everyone can be CEO, you know?

Actually. I think it was svengalie who started a few months before m13. Sven died in a house fire a few years ago so he's pretty unknown now but he was a pretty well known vlogger, moto vlogs and that geocaching stuff

Anyhow subs come and go, just take a good look at your content. My early videos were rubbish but I thought they were legendary! Now they be ho-hum but I'm happy with it all.

If the content is entertaining people will stick with you.

Just like others have said before people come and go. Kinda normal. But yeah 3 times a week...probably a bit much imho.

Personally I'm aiming for 1-2 a week...1 being some funny shit the other having something interesting going on, or useful to people. Not sure how useful it is to people but I will soon see and tbh fuck it... Just do what you enjoy anyway. It's not about subs although in all fairness just like everyone else here we all would love to have more subs... I mean I would love it if I could reach more people to make them laugh and teach them some good shit.

I guess that will just take time though and being a part of the community/social zones you, through interaction with them will eventually build up a following and then they will due to enjoyment share your shit with their friends and it just grows from there.

That's how I see it anyway, I can't say too much atm with my whole 51 subs but still... All have to start somewhere don't we.

Just takes time and self promotion, so at least some people get to see your stuff until they start sharing it. Have a goal in mind, that helps. I'm currently now aiming for 1000 subs, and I'm going to enjoy myself until I get there and not stop enjoying myself when I hit it.

If you enjoy it and love what you do... fuck the subs That'll come naturally through a bit of promo.

I started getting disheartened straight away when my first video got quite a few dislikes... although I shouldn't have posted it in a forum where it was full of old posh folk forum lol... Learnt quick from that one.

I've been doing quite a bit of studying while prepping to launch this channel. I've talked to consultants, brand managers, high sub and traffic content creators and I've come across a lot of the same answers. Content is the bulk of what keeps people watching you (but we all knew that) but setting up your videos for success is the real trick.

I've noticed that a lot of vloggers make videos that only a vlogger would be interested in. They don't go for content that reaches a non motovlogger audience, those that do tend to be the ones with the bigger sub counts. So my current rule of thumb is to make my content accessible to anyone whether they are a vlogger or not. Vlogging is what we do it doesn't have to be all of our content.

Saturation is another huge problem. Too many vloggers isn't the problem it's the type of videos that they make. I can throw out a certain key word or set of key words and hit 30 vloggers all doing the same video. Fighting for that attention can seriously hinder you from getting the monopoly on that specific topic, review, reveal, etc... Don't do a video that's been beat to death. Every vlogger is unique but so many are trying to be something they aren't. Why would I watch a RJ style rip off video when I can just watch the originator RJ himself? You see where I'm going with this. Make me see something that I haven't seen from a vlogger before and trust me the subs will come from being original and sincere.

Tag words on your videos and channel are probably one of the biggest things that can bring traffic your way. If you tag your channel right then you can be sure that you will bring in subs that aren't specifically interested in moto vlogging but will stick around because you connect with them on a different level. But this goes back to not becoming a "moto vlogger for moto vloggers"

There's nothing wrong with the community and there's no need to be aloof to it. We all enjoy doing the same thing and sharing tips and information is something that should be celebrated. Of course this is just what I've found out in my past few months of seriously researching motovlogs and motovloggers in anticipation of launching my own new channel. But I do notice the the patterns of the larger and lower sub counts. It was interesting to me and I think I'm the first to seriously research the community and content creators for moto vlogging lol.

Also be aware that YouTubes statistics are not crash hot either. They "lose" data regular. I see the warning in statistics all the time "data for blah blah is incorrect, we are working to correct this" Once I logged in and found I'd lost 20 subs and then logging in the next day showed they were back. But if they start dwindling away it could be a sign that they have lost interest. But really, its no loss if someone who was subbing, was not that interested at first, as you probably didnt get views from them anyway. True blue subs are what you need. The ones that comment regular, they are the real subs that actually truly enjoy your content.
You dont want 1000's of subs like some Channels you find, 1000+ subs and only 2 videos with 10 views each, some how I dont think they were genuine subs.

I usually get more views than subs for my non-vlogging videos because people are interested in that one video, but don't really care for a regular vlog.

On the other hand, my vlogs usually exclusively have less views than my subs......no one is rlly interested in a non-Western POV IMO.
