I'm trying not to get too narked by it, but it's taken me a long time to get to 98 subs; Then the other day, someone messaged me on youtube asking me to sub them as they only had about 40 subs. I politely refused, pointing out they hadn't subscribed to me so how cheeky of them to ask me to subscribe to them. I looked today and they have gainged 200 subs! WTF?

So who is the mug here? Is natural growth the right way to go or should I be out there marketing myself? :?

he's probably gone around and subbed to lots of suckers who subbed back and then unsubbed after they returned the favour.
mrtommygunwhite's right!

You can market yourself without spamming and being a tool or using a bot which some people consider cheating.

Comment on other people's videos.

Sub to other motovloggers. Lots of times they'll sub back if they have time to check your channel.

If someone comments on your video and they're not a troll respond to them.

Try to do things that encourage interactivity with your audience. Ask them questions so they'll comment and give you feedback.

The key to gaining an audience on Youtube is participating in the community that your vids fit in. When I had time to actively participate more I would sometimes get 20-30 subs in one day. I've had other people give me shoutouts or mention one of my videos and gained several hundred subs in just a day or two.

I will not chase subs and will not sub people I'm not interested in.

I don't advertise my vlogs on these forums, or anywhere. If people see them, like them and sub that's great.

Natural is the right way. Your Germany vlogs are better than 99% of the vlogs thrown out by sub chasers. Quality and less subs is better than generic shite and begging for subs.

Just throwing this out there. I really like the intro on your Germany series. Did you make that? If you make something like that for me I'll give you a shoutout or two. You should pickup quite a few subs from that. The last person I gave a shoutout to gained a little over 70 subs the first day. It's no where near what you would get out of a shoutout from M13 but it's a nice boost.

Let me know if you're interested.

You should buy your subs :P

Best way to (honestly) gain subs, is to do as everyone has said above, and make yourself availiable for as many meets as possible. I gained 40 subs in a week, just because I nearly crashed Extreme601's FZ6 into a shipping container :P

This might seem harsher than I mean it to, but what do you care whether they've gained 200? Some of my favourite vloggers, I couldn't care less whether they've got 20 subs, or 20,000 subs, so long as they keep producing the same quality videos as the ones that got me hooked.

Motovlogging seems to be becoming a subs race between various cliques of people lately. And it's hurting video quality, in my opinion, as people are trying to be something unique, yet something that they are not. I'm not even checking my subs count at the moment, because my next personal milestone of 2,500 is a long way away to worry about making a video. A celebratory video, celebrating that I have 2,500 people who clicked subscribe because they like my videos, not because I subbed them in return.

What's funny is people seem so obsessed with their subscriber count, that they neglect their video view count. Not that I get 100% view count on my videos, but percentage wise, in relation, I reckon my videos would be ahead of some of the better known vloggers. I mean, if you've got 100k subscribers, and only an average of 10k views per video, there's something wrong.

All about meets mate, I'd probably still be on 50 subs if it wasn't for my repeated hijacking of Extreme and other peoples channels :)

If your after subs that wan't to watch biker vids this is a great way of doing it, just do real comments on biker vids. I got a few top one on M13 and my subs shot up. I will also admit I tried the auto comment bot that posted to peoples channels, yes this gets results also BUT most of those results while they do sub, don't watch your vids.

Cheers everyone! Although I've watched my youtube subscribers count, I've not been bothered about chasing numbers, however passing the 100 mark was always going to be a milestone for me! Just amazed me how this other vloggers tactic gained 200 in a week.

Thanks for the views and opinions and thanks to a couple of you who helped me reach a 100 last night! :D

Kryten, I've left you a comment on your channel!

I think, as a vlogger who's just started out, sub counts do matter at first, because after the comments box, they are the biggest way to tell how 'well' you are doing.
I think perhaps after you get a certain amount of subs, you'd feel somewhat more 'safe' and confident and you wouldn't need as much reassurance as to what you're doing is right (that reads weirdly, but i'll leave it :D )

I am a new moto vlogger and I have tried approaching the kids at the 'cool table'. It seems that most of those who are doing really well do not have time to share the success. Either they are spammed with too many messages or they are simply being competitive.
Right now I feel the need to increase subscribers/views to feel like I am not wasting my time filming, editing, posting. The natural growth is slow and requires a lot of patience. I don't expect to be an over night hit but I'd be thrilled to reach 100 subs and 200 views on each vid.
I'm still my own number one fan. I enjoy vlogging and watching my own vids and laughing at myself.

Ask yourself...
Am I vlogging for fun or fame?

Stenno mate, your vlogs are better then the overwhelming majoirty I've seen recently ... think of subs like friends, would you rather have half a dozen friends who would take a bullet for you, or 50 who wouldn't even let you clean yourself up in their kitchen if you got shot?
(I'm aware that that analogy is really weird, but you get the gist!)

I'm sub #101! :D

Here lays the problem with some of todays motovloggers, If it's starting to feel like you are wasting your time, then why are you bothering, Please don't get me wrong i'm not having a dig.

It's something i am seeing more and more of...this is not what motovlogging is about. stop looking at it like bloody numbers game. it's not why we do it. YES, it's exciting when you get ya first 50-100-500-1000 subs, but you have to remember along the way of these milestones it's about the people & friends you have made while doing it, along with the memories you've made that you can revisit.

If you are all wanting subs just upload crash/close call videos (i know i've said that once before but it's true) people like to see others suffer or get into trouble...to make them feel better about themselves?

It's really sad to see this whole sub count trend coming in :( & in some cases when people past and present get a lot of subs, suddenly they are too cool for school. At the end of the day we all eat, sh!t and sleep....it's just sad that it goes to some peoples heads

We motovlog because we enjoy doing it, sharing our stories with one another who share similar interests, ffs please don't let that change.....
