Drift ghost issues!!?!?

My drift ghost has been giving me issues for about a month. When I got to record sometimes almost all the time it will record for 3 seconds the. Freeze. It did this the the ga meetup not too long ago the chase and ramekin held. Majority of my mountain footage was gone because of this. Is there anyway to fix it or do I need to contact drift and get a replacement?

I've had trouble with the Drift cameras since the very beginning. I've lost so much footage over the years from ill fitting batteries, remotes that don't work, and other problems that I almost quit vlogging altogether. I've been trying to get back into it and now I'm remembering why I quit before. This weekend I recorded 5 videos worth of footage or so I thought. When I went to view the footage most of the videos ended abruptly for no reason. I went straight to Amazon and ordered a new Gopro.

I did a trip once and tried to record footage in areas that I had never been and will probably never return only to find out the damn battery rattled loose and the cameras turned off.

I always had trouble dealing with Drift too. Good luck getting them to fix or replace it. I told them I had two cameras and 4 batteries. They acknowledged the fact that the cameras I had were faulty and that improvements in the slightly newer models fixed it but they would only replace one camera and one battery.

Get a Gopro and tell Drift to suck it!

Thanks for the advice i was actually considering getting the + silver

I just got a notice from Amazon that my Gopro 3+ Black just arrived in the mailroom at work! Maybe my videos will stop sucking after today!

If you watch Jake TheGardenSnakeon YT, his drift wasnt turning on so he contacted Drift and they sent him a brand new one for free. I would contact them.

Do you turn it on then immediately press the record button? I noticed when I do that, it will freeze. Also check if your SD card is class 10 or above.

If not, yea contact Drift about this issue.

Yup -I would agree with this as well/ I count to 5 when I turn mine on, then hit record and it's very rare I get an issue with it.

I had a remote stop working once, drift sent out a new one and gave me a spare battery

The problem with going from Drift Ghost, Ghost S to Contour, liquid image or the latest gopro is that they're all the same camera.
When did drift begin having issues (with current-gen cameras)? With the Ghost and Ghost S, they share exactly the same hardware as all the other cameras. Gopro is no better, go read the tons of issues its users are facing every day since the Hero 3.

There's no point in switching brands when you get the same hardware, more or less proprietary, in a different case.

I think it's luck of the draw, some guys never have a single issue with their cameras and other guys are cursed to endless issues after issues. All i know is when you start hitting the prices from the Ghost and Gopro Hero 3 the customer service better be right up there as they not cheap toys, well in my country anyway, both the Ghost S and GP hero 3+ are expensive as all balls! Mototwitch give them hell bro!

I wonder if this has to do with country as Gopro here (well the agents that deal with it) apparently are really on it in terms of replacing cameras etc. Either or, both warrant the price tags where they aren't just a "toy" as most females put it :P

I had the same problem on both the hd and the s, I find it goes away if you leave the camera for a min after booting it up before recording.

Hmmm ... Much as it pains me to mention it...

'Genuine' spares ... Got a spare mount clip .... Which rattles/flexes in the screw section.... Recently got a replacement rear hatch with outlets for plugs ... And the bloody thing won't disconnect now... Screw just keeps on spinning... It's like 95% secured .. But won't tighten or loosen.... Just spin....

And I can't figure out how to remove the friggin thing!

I have the same issue, hit record just after startup and it sometimes freezes 5-20s later, but leave it going for a bit before hitting record and it is fine. Also, I have found that starting the recording from the remote always works, no matter when I start the recording. This happens on my HD Ghost, which has the latest firmware. Never seen anything like this on my HD 170.

The ghost S has specific instructions about what to do if you encounter unusual occurances ... down load firmware updates to the SD card and make sure the camera is up to date. I dunno if that works, mine is new and has no issues, not used one before, try it though, may help :)

"I" had issues with using my Ghost last night.... Group of 5 riding into Sydney for a coffee at Kings Cross and a bit of a lap around a few suburbs...

Leaving home I didn't check my setup properly ... So all the way up ... Camera mounted on helmet top like normal, but forgot to rotate lens ... Sideways vlogs .. (Think I can fix this in edit but aspect will be wonky) ... On arrival I forgot to power down camera cos chatting to the mates too much ... Flat battery (but not so bad because I took USB charge cable with me for the 12v feed on bike) ... Charged a little in next riding section and did some fairing mounted camera footage ... Then back onto helmet where I forgot to plug mic back in! ... Not enough charge really so back onto fairing to charge more and finally got something right.... Took std drift ext mic out of fairing and just shoved it up under the chin bar and clipped onto cheek pad ... Hour of bits and pieces on way home under streetlights ...

All these stuff ups.... After 8hours unloading truck during day ...just a bit too tired to think properly ... Don't Vlog tired?! ... Awesome night overall though.... Home at 1.30 am and slept like a log ... :)

....still got the spinning screw in accessory hatch .. See couple posts up .... Anyone got an idea how to get the cover off?

Hey Janxy, are you talking about this back:

If so, then there appears to be two possible reasons why your knob spins (Porno Exorcist anybody?).

Either the black knob on the outside of the hatch has come unstuck from the bolt, or the nut has become unstuck from the door that holds the battery in.

Easy answer, send it back to Drift. But, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty...

Break the knob off with some pliers so you get to the other end of the bolt. Then undo it. If that works, yay. If not:

Its the nut that's loose in the door. Send it back to Drift.
