I use Finall Cut Pro X, i took a few courses on video editing before i started motovlogging, but this one is my favorite of them all. I previously had adobe premier, iMovie, windows movie maker and sony vegas and camtasia studio. Im definitly a Final Cut Pro person :)

£199.99 from the Mac App Store for UK folk. I know this cos I looked ages ago and decided they were taking the Michael. You can buy a second hand PC and a copy of Vegas for less than that...

I'm currently looking in to After Effects to see how or why I would combine it with FCPX to do "other stuff"...

I'm curious as to what you folks use for editing your videos. I use WMM right now, but it's starting to bother me. There's a massive difference between the audio/video timing while editing and while watching the final product outside of the program.

Now, being a broke post-secondary student I'd prefer a free program, but right now anything is better than WMM, I'm starting to realize.
If your camera outputs AVI,MP4 or MOV then you could always use the GOPRO Studio software. It is free to download, has some good tutorials and is not bad for a free program...

No ride yet, still working on it!
I just dropped WMM (it decided to let me create movies but it wont finalize them anymore) and downloaded (Wondershare Video Editor). It was free for me, and it works with all the media formats that I use (.mov .mpeg .avi .mp4 .flv .wmv etc.) It is similar to WMM but it has about 50% more options for editing effects and it works with more file formats.

I didn't know that, a great tip for newbies!

The beauty of this software is that it does not mind working with heavily compressed file types such as MP4. So your first preview and clip selection process is nice and smooth.
It then only converts your selected frames to AVI for more advanced editing, such as slow motion, transitions and zoom ect...
Unlike Vegas where if you try and run a heavy compressed MP4, you first need to convert the whole video to avi then do you timeline editing...
I just find Gopro Studio more efficient time wise....

I prefer Adobe Premiere, but I kind of grew up using it. I started out with WMM, but the encoding was so terrible...I do hope it has improved since then lol. Premiere is so like Photoshop I was able to jump back and forth easily. Elements should work fine for what a lot of people need to use it for.

I'm using Cyberlink PowerDirector, a very good bit of kit. Was using Vegas Pro 12 before but find the quality of the render to be much better with PowerDirector.

Anything better for Mac users besides iMovie? Better be affordable as well... Was thinking about Adobe Elements 13, but that is freaking 100 usd.

Final Cut Pro X? £199/$299 in the Mac App Store, other places may be, er, cheaper...

iMovies doesn't seem to be so bad though, if it does everything you want it to, no point buying anything else really.

Suppose I should try cobbling something together with iMovie, I'm getting to the end of my FCP X Trial and I'm NOT paying friggin $370 AUD for the privilege of using it. There is the problem of supporting external audio though.
