I'm sure on Facebook an underground band would happily give you permission to use there song in return for credit! I mean think about it, you're endorsing them, they are endorsing you. Its hassle sure but in the long run its not going to be a piece of music any vlogger will have. Unique and interesting

I second SoundCloud especially those with a smaller following who would be happy to have their stuff gain more exposure. You could also try freemusicarchive.org—TONS of good stuff there. I know YouTube has their own bit of sounds but I'm not sure if it's something you'd want to use. Vimeo has some free and paid stuff as well under "Music Store" (I think, it's been a while). Just be sure that you can use them commercially before you use them in monetized vids.

Hope this helps.

All the little underground groups I know of use soundcloud.

What happens if those groups grow, could they then retroactively take down your videos for using their music?

Good question, I'm a soundcloud user too for my video.
But like other (I guess) I give credit and a link to the soundcloud of the artist.

Fortunately I had a friend write me a theme song. Ask around your circle of friends. There's gotta be someone who makes music in their spare time! haha

If you have an agreement with them, they should honor there word, but always keep any conversations and dates on record.

There's always incompetech.com. His music is always free to use including commercially. He makes everything himself and only asks that you give him credit. His music is licensed under a CC Attribution 3.0.

My friend goes there for his Gamer channel. Music there is good, but I was told it be hard to find something suitable for a talking vlog.

I need to get this done at some point. It would be nice to have a truly unique intro.

I agree. At most you'll find songs you can chop up to create a quick intro and outro, but possibly nothing you'd use for a full-length video depending on your tastes. Most songs seem to do fine if you're planning something cinematic though.

I use this from time to time. And I always make sure I include a credit to the artist and a link to the Creative Commons license in the video description.

*if you look at the video description of "Ducati Multistrada 1200 - Highway 101 Victoria to San Francisco TRAILER" you will see what I mean.
