I honestly think a 125 should be the bare minimum you should be allowed. So a 16 year old will have a 125 instead of a frankly dangerous 50cc that can only do 28mph... CBT would stay the same, but when you pass a test even at 17 you can have a 250 and no more. then 19 maybe a 400/500 then 21 whatever the hells you want.

I ride a YZF R125 and it's a cracking bike. It's the same seat height as the R6 so shouldn't be a problem for a taller rider like yourself.

That said, thegentlemanbiker, if all riders were as gentlemanly as we are on this site, then the law would probably go that way but unfortunately, too many lawsuits aimed at the government for the deaths of scanners wearing nylon on the road brought that to an end pretty quickly...

I reckon the most realistic option would be the YZF now, in all honesty.

Here the daelims have a somewhat spotted record:
The R version and the naked version suffer from really bad OEM spark plugs - to the point that some dealers actually put in NHK spark plugs right on the brand new ones.
Other than that, no big issues, just the random failure, much like any bike.
BUT... the chopper version is a bloody mess. It literally shakes itself apart, looses bolts, electricals stop working...

Yep. Daystar is the "loose one bolt per 100kms", the roadsport is a sporty faired version of the roadwin.
there are a few horror stories concerning the local customer support, too.
But the roadwin / roadsport guys are generally very happy with their rides.

I have an Aprilia RS125 and It's pretty good for tall people, I'm about 6FT and it's perfect but i think it depends on what u need it for, If you want to commute in somewhere like london then pretty much 2t's are out of the window (riding in 1st gear in traffic is not fun on two stroke) , if not then i recommend getting a 2T, They're al ot faster for their engine size and a lot more fun (my opinion). The YZF R125 is good all rounder but expensive to buy probably the best out of the 4T 125s. I would defiantly not recommend a CBR125 as they're tiny and no tall person would be able to ride it comfortably.

The RS125 has always seemed like an unknown to me, with various conceptions that its not very reliable, being a two stroke n' all, but as I'm not planning on going into any cities I don't think it would matter much to me, but reliability and roundedness are the two things I hold at the top of my list in buying a 125, I know that there are a few Jap bikes that are generically geared towards dwarves xD but much to my surprise apparently a lot of them are pretty decent, with the odd exception as you mentioned, of course.

With the Daelims, CoTW, I'm adding it to my list of genuine possibles as, pending any evidence I find on reliability and such, it is seemingly a bloody good bike, the Roadsport that is.

Thanks for the insight guys :)

Okay, time for some personal experience yall.
I had the CF moto V-Night, which is their 150cc learner bike. I'm 6'7, and 120kgs, and the thing was incredibly underpowered up hills. However, aside from that, the only other problem I had was at full lock the handlebars got caught on my knees and almost caused a few spills.
But long trips on it were a no-no, because it didn't have the power for higher speed roads. However, if it's just for smaller trips, you shouldn't really have a problem with being too big for it, other than power limitations :)

Also, yet to have a problem with the hyosung ;)

I'm fairly tall and had a varadero for my first bike. I loved it, it's the best looking non sporty bike imo, although competition is thin on the ground and I could ride it for 5 hours without a single ache or pain. It cruised happily at 70 and would push 80ish for overtaking.

The best thing was, it appreciated in value during my ownership, which paid for my insurance and maintenance so it was in essence free riding with the exception of petrol!

Anything with 2 wheels, ride it like you stole it.
Ive owned imports like hyosung, reiju and motorhispania, even my rs125 had better build quality than those god aweful things, but i will never choose any other day to day bike other than jap bikes, my Honda cbr125 never missed a beat for 20k in a year and a half never let me down once, where take my motorhispania rx125 for example it dropped a valve and scored the barrel, yes they are cheap and look attractive but they are cheaper for a reason in most cases, theirs always been that saying buy cheap buy twice but i have attached a picture of my 2012 cbr125 repsol, decked out ina few tastey bits of carbonfibre and shiney bits.
